Lets throw out a figure of 15% of those attending buy your CD and have you autograph it for them. Say you have 200 people at your show so you just sold 30 CDs. At 10 bucks a pop minus your cost, you made about $240.00 profit for CD sales. Now, what do you think would have happened if you just announced…”Hey we’re on iTunes, make sure you go download our album when you get home”. I think it is safe to say that substantially less will download it the next morning.

There are a number of factors working against you on the download side.

• You give your fan time to cool off.
• The download store screams for attention for all kinds of music…. they could easily get distracted.
• They end up listening to each of your song demos and decide to cherry pick 5 of your 14 songs.
